Some Thoughts

Living In The UK

After having lived in the UK for several years I still could not make peace with whatever is considered "English Cuisine". (BTW: It's not a coincidence that the number of "English Specialty Restaurants" abroad is quite limited.)

Missing Our Spanish Food And Dishes

I love to cook and I love to eat. Living in England makes it really difficult to find the right stuff for your favorite dishes - unless you are prepared to pay prohibitively high prices for these products and ingredients.
So, every time I went home by car I filled it up with goodies for me and my Spanish friends: olive oil, fuet, chorizo, jamon serano, pipas, turón, latas de atún ... name them. All things you can get here in the UK either in an inferior quality or - as mentioned above - at prohibitively high prices.

The Online Shop: tutienda.co.uk

Encouraged by the great acceptance of my friends here in the UK I've decided to give it a try and, together with some friends, open an online shop for Spanish products. We start small with the most popular articles. But we are keen to hear from you what you miss and what you would like to see here in the shop.

Price Policy

The vast majority of us are living and working here in the UK for economic reasons. With the money we earn here we try to help our families at home and - if there is something left at the end of the month - we try to put some savings aside. Consequently we are not really affluent and have to be very careful how and for what we spend our money.
Said all this, we try to be as close as possible to the prices we were used to pay in Spain. As a matter of fact, transport from Spain to the UK already adds up nearly 20% of the overall costs. Once starting to grow and shipping bigger volumes, we also will be able negotiate transport costs which we will pass on to you by decreasing our final prices.
Products
We start with products what we believe is missing most here. Having said this, you will only find products with a long shelf-life and products that do not need refrigeration. Having said this, there may be certain products available in autumn, winter and early spring which do not need refrigeration per se, such as vacuum packed cheese. The quality of these products will not suffer from a three-days-transport when the outside temperature is around 10-15°C.but would certainly perish under summerly conditions of 35°C and more.
